What If…

2014 - and every year that follows

What if… You made ONE new friend on Twitter every day of 2014

What if… You reached out to help ONE person every day in 2014

What if… You wrote ONE meaningful blog post every week in 2014

What if… You posted ONE inspiring quote every day in 2014

What if… You read ONE book every week in 2014

What if… You smile at ONE person every day in 2014

What if… You hug someone you love ONE time daily in 2014

What if… You listen to ONE person every day in 2014

What if… You did ONE thing with passion in 2014

What if… 2014 is the year ONE of your biggest dreams comes true

What if… You got serious about ONE thing in 2014

What if… You stretched ONE of your limits in 2014

What if… You told ONE person about a favorite, worthy cause daily in 2014

What if… You paused to enjoy a silent moment ONE time every day in 2014

What if…

You didn’t wait to do any of this?

Or didn’t limit it just to 2014

  1. A possibility of what ifs that would change everything. Thank you.

I would like to add, what if you spent the first week of 2010 saying thank you to everyone around you and for everything in your life? What if you spent just one day in January, 2010 saying thank you to your spouse, your child, your neighbor, your friend, your co-worker, your pets, your garden, your plants, your breath, your heart?

  2. Parts of what was written 100 years ago by Rudyard Kipling (in his collection ‘Rewards and Fairies’ in 1909) is below:

“If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,

Or walk with kings – nor lose the common touch,

If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,

    If all men count with you, but none too much;

If you can fill the unforgiving minute

With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,

Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,

And – which is more – you’ll be a Man, my son!

And 100 years later, a Son of that calibre writes on similar dimensions – making it humanly attainable – if only we think about it – and do it.

Lovely piece of work Dr. Mani.

Rudyard Kipling’s (1865-1936) inspirational poem ‘If’ first appeared in his collection ‘Rewards and Fairies’ in 1909.
